DescriptionInfant and Child Development Services (ICDS) 
(Early Years Unit) 
Infant and Child Development Services support families in giving their child the best start in life.  
Infant and Child Development Services is a home-based service for families of children up to the age of six. Infant and Child Development Workers support families whose children are experiencing developmental challenges or if parents have concerns with their child’s development.  
The Infant and Child Development Worker will: 
• help you to understand your child’s cues and how to respond to them 
• help identify your child’s strengths and needs 
• provide information about child development 
• offer suggestions to encourage development 
• complete your child assessments 
• help teach children new skills 
• visit you regularly in your home 
• support to enhance your parenting skills 
• assist with referrals to other helpful services 
• help with transition to preschool, junior and senior kindergarten 
Outreach services include 1 2 3, Look at Me Developmental Screenings Clinics, a variety of different parenting workshops, and consultations provided in the local community.

EligibilityAges: 5 year(s) and under 
ICDS is available to families with children who: 
• are between birth and 5 years 11 months of age 
• live in Haldimand or Norfolk 
• have been identified with a developmental challenge  
• have concerns about their child’s development 
• were born premature 
• have a disability (ie. Cerebral Palsy, Autism, or Down Syndrome)
